Why We Do It
With over 20 years of experience in the construction industry, I have consistently focused on delivering high-performance exterior cladding systems by aligning closely with product manufacturer specifications, reducing warranty claims, minimizing long-term repairs, costs, and extending system lifespan.
One persistent challenge to achieving these outcomes is the variable impact of environmental conditions—particularly during cold-weather installations. To address this, I integrate sensor technology into our workflow to monitor and log temperature data throughout the cladding installation process.
This approach is especially critical in winter, when temporary heating and hoarding are used to create controlled environments. By continuously tracking ambient temperatures, we ensure strict adherence to manufacturer installation requirements, thereby enhancing durability, reducing performance issues, and mitigating future risk.
Since 2017, K Alert sensors have been available to the construction industry, offering a valuable tool to support this proactive quality-control strategy.

When applying an acrylic finish coat as part of an Exterior Insulation and Finish System (EIFS), temperature control is critical to ensure proper curing and long-term performance. Here’s a breakdown of the video:

- Acrylic finish coat applied during cold weather conditions.
- Freezing temperatures occurred, likely overnight.
- The area was under temporary heating and hoarding, but likely did not maintain the required minimum 4°C (39°F) for 24 hours after application.
